Mahlstedt's family background information

Henry Mahlstedt who came to NY around the 1870's (together with his cousin called Laue) was in the grocer business (probably in Van Buren Ave., Brooklyn). Henry married Marie Catherine Wilhelmine Kamps Mahlstedt (probably on 11.11.1868)
They had four children :

  • George (*11.2.1886 d. 18.10.1938),
  • Henry (*25.8.1888 d. 26.8.1942),
  • William Gustav (Willi) (*31.01.1894 d. 28.01.1943) and
  • Maria (Mariechen) (*31.01.1897) who must have applied for a job as a teacher according to a document I came across on the internet.

    • According to information I got from my mother it might be possible that Henry was financially better off than his brother George and that in the end they broke off because of quarrels about money.
